BigTip is a relatively new member of the daily deal brigade. It was founded in 2010 by Matt Rowlen, former executive of Yahoo! Knowing that sites such as LivingSocial and Groupon have something of a stranglehold on the market, Rowlen knew that BigTip needed to be different in order to survive and thrive. As a result, BigTip has a feature that its rivals does not: a database which subscribers can browse through in order to find offers in their neighborhood that suit them.

What Is BigTip All About?
In many ways, BigTip operates in the same manner as its rivals. The deals are available to subscribers on the company website with discounts available which range anywhere from 10-90%. Like on sites of a similar nature, customers deal exclusively with BigTip when it comes to paying for the deal. Once payment has been received, BigTip issue an online voucher which can be printed and the customer can take the voucher to the establishment and benefit from savings.

One of the reasons why BigTip has become popular so quickly is the fact that there are over 100 different deals available on the site every single day. The number of deals of course depends on where you are located. As there are so many different deals available, it is far more likely that you will find something that suits you far quicker than on sites like LivingSocial and Groupon where one-a-day deals really limit your options.

Pros
It is clear that BigTip had a long way to go when it started up because its competitors had such a massive head start. However, setting up the database for customers to run through is a stroke of genius. With one-a-day deals, consumers simply log in to get their tip of the day and log out again. With dozens of tips available on any given day, visitors to BigTip.com will stay on for much longer than on the sites of its competitors. This is a major reason why BigTip has managed to close the gap between itself and its bigger rivals in such a short space of time. After all, what’s better than a 90% off coupon? Ten 90% off coupons of course!

Cons
To be honest, there seem to be few negatives when it comes to BigTip. Although the site is young, it has already made quite an impression. The usual ‘read the terms and conditions’ rules apply as always but aside from that, the other problems associated with sites of this nature are absent. The reason for this? Well, deal-a-day coupons are naturally very popular and with hundreds of people looking for the same deal, problems are bound to occur. With a wide variety of deals on offer, there will be much fewer cases of congestion which means easier access to those fantastic deals.

Verdict
BigTip is young, loud and impetuous but it’s also innovative and well thought out. Matt Rowlen knew exactly what he was doing when he created BigTip and it shows in the way it attracts customers so easily. Rowlen saw a very basic mistake made by rival companies and he rectified it, much to the benefit of BigTip’s customers.
